Who’s Affected

Importance

All vendors and customers that submit jobs via the Monster Business Gateway

Implementation Required

What is this about?

Monster is making two changes to the Business Gateway

No Inventory Substitution
Currently, when jobs are posted through the Business Gateway, if the inventory requested for the posting doesn’t match the inventory options available in the account, Monster will identify substitute inventory to post the job.

For example: If you request a 30 day posting duration but you have a license with a 60 day duration, Monster will allow the posting to continue if your company had requested this service.

As of March 2010,  This service will no longer be available.  Focusing on the above example, the company must have a 30 day license to post the job posting successfully on Monster.com.   Otherwise, the Job Posting will fail and return a message stating “Missing inventory.”

Error Messages are Changing
The text strings in the error messages that the Business Gateway returns will be changing.

For example:

Description

Message old

Message new

Content of a field is shorter than minimum allowed length

<FieldName> [<value>] is shorter thatn the allowed minimum [<minimum length>] for this field.

Value [<value>] of field [<FieldName>] is shorter than the allowed minimum of [<minimum lenght>] characters.

Content of a field is longer than maximume allowed length

<FieldName> [<value>] is longer than the allowed maximum length [<maximum length>] for this field.

Value [<value>] of field [<FieldName>] is longer than the allowed maximum of [<maximum length>] characters.

Field is missing and is required

<FieldName> is missing and is required.

[<FieldName>] is required and was not provided.

Why is this important?

As of March 2010, Job postings will fail if the inventory is not an exact match.  Your error message will not match and could cause confusion and delays in resolution.

What should I do?

Check the Monster Business Gateway http://schemas.monster.com/Current/DOC/JobProcessingMessaging

to verify that your system will be ready to respond to the new return messaging.

If you are currently sending in specific attributes on your job submission (such as a request for 30 day posting duration or bolding in the search results) it must match a license that you currently own to be able to successfully post.  After March 2010, we will no longer support the ability to substitute a license that does not have the correct attributes.

If, however, you do not specify specific attributes such as posting duration in your job submission then you are most likely relying on default values that we have associated with your account.  Note: If we have determined that your default values are in conflict with the licenses you currently own, we will be working with you between now and March 2010 to modify your default settings appropriately.

What happens if I don’t act?

Jobs submitted with sufficient inventory available will be posted successfully.

Because some warning and error messages will be updated, your systems may not be able to parse these messages.

Technical details

Updated Error Messages have been loaded to http://schemas.monster.com/Current/DOC/JobProcessingMessaging.   Within this folder you will find 3 files that will help you in updating the error messages:

1.     CommonJobErrors.htm file that includes a list of the new error messages

2.     MessagesCOMtoNET.htm file that contains a mapping between the old and new error messages

3.     Notification.htm which is a copy of 90/60/30 day communication

In addition, the BGW web service job responses have been streamlined by removing the following 4 elements:

1.     JobsPreProcessResponse

2.     JobPostProcessResponse

3.     ProcessingReceipt

4.     ProcessingSummary

Please make the necessary adjustments to your code.

Please note that after March 2010, additional technical details may be found on Schemas.Monster.com and Doc.Monster.com.  Please check these sites periodically for updates.
